UGC NET December 2023 :The National Testing Agency (NTA) has begun accepting applications online for the December 2023 session of the University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC-NET). UGC NET Exam 2023 Qualification
- The UGC NET 2023 Examination is open to candidates who are enrolled in master’s degree-equivalent programs, who have taken their qualifying master’s degree (Final Year) examination but have not yet received their results, or whose qualifying examination has been postponed.
- Candidates who have earned a Master’s Degree OR an equivalent examination in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science, etc. from universities/institutions recognized by the UGC are eligible to take this test.
- Candidates from the Other Backward Classes (OBC) who do not belong to the creamiest layer, Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST), or Persons with Disabilities (PwD) categories who obtained at least 50% marks (without rounding off) in a Master’s degree or equivalent examination are eligible for this test.
- Candidates who passed the UGC-accredited States Eligibility Test (SET) for Assistant Professor prior to June 1, 2002, are excluded from taking the NET and are qualified to apply for Assistant Professor positions throughout India.
- Candidates who identify as transgender are entitled to receive the same fee, age, and NET qualification criterion relaxations (i.e., JRF and Assistant Professor) as SC/ST/PwD categories.

Before submitting an application for any position on the NTA UGC NET exam application, make sure you have all the necessary information about the position and its requirements. Below are the specific requirements for UGC NET 2023 eligibility:
- According to UGC NET Education Eligibility, applicants who have taken their qualifying master’s degree (Final Year) test but have not yet received their results may still take the UGC NET 2023 test.
OR According to UGC NET Eligibility Criteria, candidates who have earned a Master’s Degree OR an equivalent degree in Humanities (including languages), Social Sciences, Computer Science & Applications, Electronic Science, etc. from universities/institutions recognized by UGC are eligible for this Test.
- For holders of PhDs: the holders of PhDs: No matter when the results were announced, PhD holders whose Master’s level examination was finished by September 19, 1991, were eligible for a 5% aggregate mark reduction (down from 55% to 50%) for NET eligibility.
- For the transgender category: As with the SC/ST/PwD categories, the transgender category would be entitled to receive the same fee, age, and UGC NET JRF Eligibility (i.e. JRF and Assistant Professor) relaxations. The cut-offs for this category in each topic should be lower than those for SC/ST/PwD/OBC-NCL categories in that subject.
- Candidates from the reserved categories of Other Backward Classes (OBC), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) must have received at least 50% in their Master’s degree exam or an equivalent.

UGC NET EXAM 2023 Eligibility Criteria For Reservation
As the NET Eligibility Criteria, the Government of India’s reservation policy is applicable to UGC-NET. at accordance with this, the reservation of seats shall be as recommended as the UGC NET Eligibility at the Central Universities and Institutions that are recognized to be Universities:
- 15% of the seats are reserved for applicants from Scheduled Castes (SC), while 7.5% are reserved for applicants from Scheduled Tribes (ST).
- 27% of the seats are reserved for candidates from Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Non-Creamy Layers (NCL), according to the Central List
- Candidates from Persons with Disabilities (PwD) with 40% or more disabilities will be given 4% of the seats in the aforementioned categories.
- Candidates from General – Economically Weaker Sections (General – EWS) would be given 10% of the seats.
- Kashmiri Migrant Reservation (subject to Ministry of Education notice for Academic Session 2021-22).
How To Fill UGC NET Exam 2023 Online Application Form?

Step I: Registration Page
(i) The candidate’s name, mother’s name, and father’s name in capital letters, as they appear on their secondary school diploma or an equivalent board or university certificate. (ii) A certificate from an analogous Board or university that includes your birthdate in the format dd/mm/yyyy as stated in your secondary school diploma.( iii) Candidates are required to submit their own mobile number and email address.
Step II: Fill in the complete UGC NET December Exam Form:
(a) The applicant fills in all the required credentials in the form.
- Name, gender, parents’ names, email address, mobile number, date of birth, and other personal details are included.
- Permanent address: contains address, pin code, district, state code, etc.
- Education: The applicant must provide information about their education, such as the name of the course, the college, the year of graduation, the minimum passing score, etc.
- The “Next” button needs to be clicked by candidates after all the details have been entered.
Step III: Uploading of scanned images & Signature
- Photograph and signature of the candidate should only be in JPG/JPEG format.
- The photo’s scanned image should have a file size of between 10kb and 200kb. The image does not need to be attested.
- The signature’s scanned image should have a file size of 4 KB to 30 KB. On white paper, the candidate should write his name in full using running handwriting and a black ink pen before scanning and uploading it.
- Spectacles are only permitted if they are worn often.
- Polaroid pictures and images created on a computer are not permitted.
- It is required to utilize the same passport-size photo for both the online application form and the attendance sheet at the testing location.
Step IV: Payment of Fee and Status of Receipt of Online Application Form with Fee.
(a)Pay the fee using a debit/credit card, net banking, HDFC, or Paytm through the SBI, Syndicate, or ICICI Payment Gateway, and retain a record of the transaction.Following the successful payment of the charge, download, save, and print a copy of the confirmation page for your records and future use.
(b) Each step involved in submitting an online application, including uploading a candidate’s photo and signature, paying the application cost, and printing the confirmation page, can also be completed independently.
(c) Information in some specific fields may only be altered during the correction window after it has been submitted in its final form.

UGC NET Exam 2023 Notification Important Points
There are four steps in the UGC NET December form procedure. Candidates should have the following in mind:
- A candidate is only allowed to submit one application. Multiple application forms submitted by a candidate, i.e., more than one application, will not be accepted.
- The question paper will only be available in English and Hindi.
- Each question is worth 02 (2) points, and the candidate receives 02 (two) points for each correctly answered question.
- No points are deducted for wrong answers.
- No points will be awarded for questions that are not attempted, not replied, or marked for review.
